Karl Rove Loses Election After Being Checkmated By Cyber Sleuths?

Crossposted from Occupy For Accountability

Last month, we offered a million dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who rigged a federal election on November 6th.  We urged computer experts to contact us with information about any election manipulation of the tabulation results.

We Received A Letter

On November 12th, we received a letter from “The Protectors,” apparently a group of white hat cyber sleuths, mentioning our reward and stating that two months ago, they began monitoring the “digital traffic of one Karl Rove, a disrespecter of the Rule of Law, knowing that he claimed to be Kingmaker while grifting vast wealth from barons who gladly handed him gold to anoint another King while looking the other way.”

“The Protectors” said that they had identified the digital structure of Rove’s operation and of ORCA, a Republican get out the vote software application.  After finding open “doors” in the systems, they created a “password protected firewall” called “The Great Oz,” and installed it on servers that Rove planned to use on election night to re-route and change election results “from three states.”

Election Protection Press Conference

Revelations by the Columbus, Ohio, Free Press that untested software has been installed in Ohio's vote tabulation system, and closely linked ownership of voting machines by Romney family members and campaign operatives, underscore a serious electronic threat to the integrity of Tuesday's national election, and the desperate need for universal hand-counted paper ballots.

Reliance on electronic voting machines means power outages from Hurricane Sandy could deprive many Americans of their right to vote and throw the election into chaos. Opaque, unmonitorable electronic vote counts add to public skepticism about the integrity of the vote count that continues to escalate dating to Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004.

Election protection activists have joined with the Green Party to demand that the United States join Ireland in scrapping its electronic voting machines and return to universal hand-counted paper ballots, currently in use in Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Canada and elsewhere.

Charleston Daily Mail: Absentee ballot contractor for state prompts concerns

-by Ry Rivard

November 1, 2012- CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Some county clerks across the state are wary of an effort to change the handling of overseas and military ballots.

The clerks, who run county elections, question Secretary of State Natalie Tennant's decision to hire a private contractor to send out the ballots. The $60,000 contract with Baltimore-based Scytl USA was paid with federal grant money from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Tennant, the state's chief elections officer, said the program is meant to make it easier for overseas West Virginians – particularly members of the military – to vote. The issue is near and dear to Tennant because her husband, state Sen. Erik Wells, D-Kanawha, was recently deployed in Afghanistan.

But in interviews this week, several election clerks questioned the arrangement.

In particular, they questioned the need to hire Scytl and the wisdom and legality of having a third party act as middleman between voters and election officials.

Million Dollar Reward Offered To Expose Election Fraud

Today, we offered a million dollar reward for hard information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone using corrupt or fraudulent means to rig a 2012 federal election so the real winner loses.  The information must result in a correction of the fraudulent election and must be new information not previously reported.

There has been a great deal of nefarious activity in the run up to this election mostly by partisans on the Republican side of the aisle. Karl Rove is receiving a great deal of scrutiny for raising hundreds of millions from GOP billionaires to defeat President Obama.

So we want cyber sleuths and whistleblowers of all stripes to keep an eye out for things that normally stay hidden, such as manipulation of the tabulation results.  We have a tip line 1-888-VOTETIP or send to tips@velvetrevolution.us.

New York Review of Books: Voting Wrongs

-By Elizabeth Drew

September 21, 2012- The Republicans’ plan is that if they can’t buy the 2012 election they will steal it.

The plan, long in the making and now well into its execution, is to raise great gobs of money—in newly limitless amounts—so that they and their allies could outspend the president’s forces; and they would also place obstacles in the way of large swaths of citizens who traditionally support the Democrats and want to exercise their right to vote. The plan would disproportionately affect blacks, who were guaranteed the right to vote in 1870 by the Fifteenth Amendment; but then that right was negated by southern state legislatures; and after people marched, were beaten, and died in the civil rights movement, Congress passed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Now various state legislatures are coming up with new ways to try once again to nullify that right.
